Recently, I was introduced to a range of skincare that is researched and formulated in Japan, d'skin.

With the demands of today’s hectic lifestyle, this selection  of  premium-quality  products  offers  modern  busy  women effective remedies to common skin issues. 

Besides  skincare  products,  d’skin also  focused  on  using  medical-grade  equipment  to  achieve desirable results. It offers a complete range of non-surgical cosmetic treatments for ageing skin and delivers the top three most  popular services in  health, wellness and  beauty sector: skin tightening, skin rejuvenation and pigmentation.

And I was invited to try and review their Stem Cell Facial Treatment, that claims to  help  with  skin  conditions  such  as  premature ageing, photo damage, hyperpigmentation, acne, sun damage, fine lines and wrinkles. 

The whole treatment is anchored on four factors to reap cellular benefits : 

Stimulate drainage

Improve microcirculation

Strengthen small capillaries

Combat skin slackening  

STEPS

The treatment procedure follows a powerful seven-step methodology

1.Skin health diagnostics and profiling

A measuring device and equipment is used to determine the most apt treatment for customers. This device will indicate the level of hydration, sebum, elasticity, pH level, melanin phototype and temperature. However, during my diagnostics, they only recorded and explained to me my skin's level of hydration, sebum production, and elasticity.

2.Cleansing

I was then shown into the room to get changed into the gown before the commencement of the facial. This is the step where my makeup was removed and the esthetician did a double cleanse with a gel based cleanser, followed by exfoliation with a soft chemical peel together with steaming (for 5mins).

3.Extraction by specialist, Eyebrow grooming & Final consultation

Another lady will step in to do the extraction, and she was quite gentle. Then this specialist did a general consultation of my skin and suggested a suitable treatment for me to do before the esthetician came back to groom my eyebrows and carry on with the treatment.

4. Ultrasound and High-voltage Impulse Therapy

Before the start of the therapy, the esthetician used a antiseptic wand to prep the skin. Followed by the application of their stem cell serum onto my face along with ultrasound and high-voltage impulse therapy to penetrate the skin and introduce a high concentration of serum into dermis simultaneously.

5.Signature Face and Eye Massage

This next step is my favourite. It promises instant, visible results and helps one to de-stress via d’skin’s signature Touch Therapy, which comprises:

a.Targeting pressure points to release energy
b.Stimulating drainage to eliminate toxin
c.Aroma massaging to promote well-being and healing

6. Mask (d’skin’s specialists will choose the mask based on skin condition)
The mask used on me was a cold cooling one.

7.Relaxing shoulder massage

The mask time was accompanied with this massage that helps to improve lymphatic function, promote flow of blood and ease stressed muscles

VERDICT

Duration: Around 2 hours for the facial treatment and 15 mins for skin analysis.

Overall Ambiance: The exterior of d'skin has a very clinic feel which is apt because it is here that the skin analysis is conducted, and the interior has a very calming feminine touch. Toilet is located outside and is quite a distance away.

Effectiveness:
For this treatment, I was looking out for signs of a hydrated plumped skin and looking at the images, you can see that not only was my skin more radiant (glowy), there is less sagginess at my undereye area and my cheeks are more plumped. That being said, I also have to state that they left a lot of serum on after the facial that made my skin feel and look moisturized.

OVERALL

The effects in person are hard to tell, but the overall experience of the facial at d'skin was really relaxing and enjoyable. My favorite segment is their Signature Face and Eye Massage. That was gold for me! 

Pollution can trigger a protein change in skin’s surface, and it accfects our skin tone and vibrancy by making it appear more opaque, yellower, dull and less radiant. On top of that, as we age, our cell turnover slows down and our skin ends up not being as plump as it used to be.

With that in mind, Origins have recently launched a pair of Anti-aging products for ladies facing  quarter-life skin concerns like rough texture, enlarged pores, stressed skin, flaws and loss of radiance.

And it's no secret that Origins products are formulated without the yucky stuff that I've been trying to avoid, like parabens, phthalates, propylene glycol, mineral oil, PABA, petrolatum, paraffin, DEA, and even ingredients derived from animals (except cruelty free honey and beeswax).

So, when I was asked to review these products... I said yes and with that being said, 

let's jump into my review:

Original Skin Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay

More than a mask, this innovative two-in-one formula not only functions as a deep cleaning mask it also exfoliates and refines. Our environment and stress take a toll on skin, leaving pores clogged or even enlarged and making skin dull, rough and uneven. To Use:

Wash and cleanse your face as usual.
Apply mask to clean skin. Avoid eye area.
Leave on for 10 minutes.
Wet fingertips and massage face in circular motions to exfoliate.
Rinse well and follow with your serum and moisturizer.

Use 1-2 times per week as a boost to your regimen. 

VERDICT

Texture: Applies on like a creamy clay mask with small beads. Dries off dry and tightens like most clay masks do. Jojoba beads do dissolve with water and really does help to exfoliate.

Smell: A blend of floral scents

Benefits:

• Deeply cleanse skin to absorb impurities and excess oils while drawing out dirt and build-up from pores
• Helps restore skin’s clarity and luminosity to reveal much sought-after glow
• Helps combat dullness and sallowness while restoring skin’s clarity and glow
• Help keep skin at peak health
• Gently exfoliate and polish skin’s texture, sloughing off dead skin cells to reveal the look and feel of radiant, smooth skin

Key Ingredients:
I can't seem to find any ingredient list on this product, however, these are the few key ingredients found; Canadian Willowherb, Persian Silk Tree, Rose Clay, Jojoba Beads, Essential Oil blend of Grapefruit, Lavender, Geranium, Rose, Amyris, Chamomile and Clary sage.

Product Rating: 9.5/10
I love this mask! I love that the exfoliation beads are made of Jojoba wax (which is better for the environment compared to plastic beads) and that it works great at scrubbing away dead skin cells as it breaks down slowly upon contact with water. I find my skin smoother and brighter after use. However, I would caution people with sensitive skin, because it does sting a little upon contact.

Original Skin Renewal Serum with Willowherb

Developed with an innovative blend of ingredients from nature with immediate and long-term benefits, Original Skin Renewal Serum addresses quarter-life skin concerns by refining texture, enhancing radiance and glow, shrinking pores, blurring imperfections and restoring overall quality for glowing and smooth skin.

To Use: 

Wash and cleanse your face as usual. Gently pat dry. 

Squeeze 1-2 dollops of serum onto fingertips. 

Apply serum evenly over face and neck. Avoid eye area. Let it sink in for 30 seconds. 

Follow with your day or night moisturizer as appropriate.

Apply serum to clean face, morning and night as part of your daily skincare regimen. 

VERDICT

Texture: Light, absorbed quickly and easily. Doesn't leave behind any sticky sensation.

Product Rating: 5/10
I like the scent of this serum and the fact that it doesn't leave behind any sticky sensation once absorbed. I've been using this serum for a month, and to be honest, I don't see or feel any difference after using this. No reduction in the appearance of pore size, no difference in my skin's texture, or even an improvement in my breakout problem.

The only thing I think it did and helped is to provide a little moisture and diminish the appearance of fine lines. However, because I couldn't find the full ingredient list... I can't comment more on it.

That being said, the use of both of these products seems to work well together. When used on the back of my hands, I could see and feel the difference. So, I guess the mask does help to even out dullness by removing dead skin cells, while the serum helps to nourish the skin.

Last week, I headed down to One Beauty Spa at Bugis for a Face Treatment, Tribo-Effleurage.

One Beauty Spa’s Tribo-Effleurage is a uniquely formulated face treatment, combining Guasha, Meridian Acupressure(Acu-Meridian) massage and manual lymphatic drainage massage. Its aim is to improve conditions facial like dark eye circles, puffiness, wrinkles and fine lines. It also has instant lifting effects, facial contouring and helps to even out skin tone.

However, upon a closer inspection of my skin,  the therapist advised against this treatment for me because I was having hormonal breakouts. So I did another of their award-winning treatment instead, the Ultimate Radiance Eye treatment. I was told that it helps with dark circles, fine lines and tiredness.

THE PROCESS

Introduction

The whole procedure starts with the standard filling up of a form for your details.

Followed by a change of footwear before approaching upstairs to the treatment room where there is a locker for your belongings. A quick visit to the washroom before I entered the room, changed into the robe given and got under the blanket.

Aromatherapy Massage

It starts with a light gentle massage with a lavender essential oil to ease my stress and worries away.

Cleansing

Then it was time to remove my makeup with double cleansing and a swipe of toner.

Consultation

It was here that my therapist took a moment to analyze my skin and recommended a change of treatment. Once I approve, she continued with the treatment.

Exfoliation

My therapist then proceeded with a gentle scrub on my face before wiping it off.

Commencement of Eye Treatment

The treatment starts with the application of the Collagen cream before my therapist started the treatment with the use of the Radio Frequency Machine. Radio Frequency increase the tissue temperature to give deeper penetration of products and better simulation of collagen.

This is followed by the application of a serum and a mild guashua around the eyes.

Mask

And to conclude the treatment, a warm honey eye mask was placed onto my eye area.

End

After a few minutes, my therapist woke me up, removed the mask and concluded the treatment with a head neck massage.

VERDICT

Duration: Around 1 hour 30 mins

Overall Ambiance: A very clean almost clinical with a touch of the usual spa ambiance. I like that the blanket is thick so I am pretty warm most of the time.

Effectiveness: Well, I felt the relieve of tension around my eyes soothed and lifted. I can't see any difference in regards to fine lines or the lightening of my dark circles but it seems to reduce the puffiness of my eye bags a little. 

OVERALL

It's been a week, the interesting thing is that I did a skin analysis and the results showed that my forehead, cheeks and chin were all dehydrated but the elasticity around my eye area is really good. So did this treatment boosted the collagen production around my eye area and hence, the contrasting rating? Well, I leave it to you to decide. But I would definitely recommend this treatment if you need a break to relieve the tension and stress from staring at your computer screen for the whole day at work!

I just want to say that my eyes are naturally uneven with the eye on the Left being the bigger one.
You can see that the corner of my eye being lifted and there is a slight reduction in the size of my eye bag.

For this review, I grew my fur out and I'm naturally hairy like nature intend me to be. So, mind you~ You've been warned. I have hairy legs. Hahaha! However, that being said, it gave me a very good base with that amount of hair to really test things out. This is the first time using an epilator on my body so I'm really reviewing this as a beginner. An sadly, as a first timer, I conclude that this is not as efficient as I was hoping it to be. Let me draw it out to explain:

I find that while it captures most hair, for an epilator that is this big and intended for the body and marketed to be the most efficient epilator... I was expecting a cleaner pluck. I had to run the device through the same area four times in different directions with different speed and I could still see stray hairs here and there after.

However, that being said, I love that it has 2 different speed that I use on different areas. Speed 2 for areas that I'm already used to the sensation of epilation and Speed 1 for areas that are much more sensitive.

I love that I can use it in the shower because, this device produces a buzzing noise and I can hide that noise with the shower sound without worrying about the water affecting it.

I also like that this comes with interchangeable heads to epilate different areas and a light attached to the device that helps me light the area up for better visual... More often then not, it's the little details that makes a different.

Shaving

The shaver head is designed for a fast and close shave of legs, underarms and bikini line, contour trimming and cutting hair to 5mm length. With the shaver head attached, used the appliance only on dry skin and with Speed 2 setting.

To Use:

1. For shaving, switch to the "Unlocked" side.
2. For contour trimming, switch to the "Locked side" .
3. For trimming hair to 5mm length, switch to the "Unlocked" side with the Trimmer cap on.

Functions:

• Comes with a Shaver head that allows you to use your epilator as a full-fledged dry shaver and a Trimmer cap to trim hair in sensitive areas.

I love multi-purpose products and Braun Silk-épil 9 epilator falls into that category with its detachable and interchangeable heads! This works well as a shaver, and I use it after epilating to remove the remaining strays. But... I do find that it still doesn't give me a clean shave unless I go through the area a few times too... maybe it's my hair, they are as stubborn as me. Haha!

Cleansing

To Use:

1. Click the brush head onto the connection pin until it locks into position.
2. Moisten face and brush head lightly with water. For best results, you may dispense a cleanser in your hand and massage it over your face.
3. Switch the device on by pressing the on/off button, and you may change the speed by pressing the 2-speed control button.
4. Gently brush your face with circular movements for approximately one minute. Avoid the eye area and hairline.
5. After use, turn off the device before you rinse your face with water.
6. End off by rinsing the brush with warm water.

Functions:

• Cleanses up to 6 times better than manual
• Removes make-up and impurities for a more radiant skin 
• 60,000 micro-touches per second gently exfoliate and visibly refine skin complexion 
• Can be used wet or dry

Product Rating: 10/10

I love this facial cleansing brush! The bristles are much gentler compared to Braun Face standard brush bristles. It manages to cleanse really well without resulting in any redness or soreness. As usual, I did my makeup removal test with the BB cream, eyeliner and a lip liner to put this cleansing brush to the test.

So with a little cleanser and moisten bristles, I pushed the button on and worked it on my skin. I did 10 secs with the speed rotation on the weaker setting and another 10 secs on the higher setting, working the brush in small circular movements before rinsing the area with water.

The results? I ran a cotton pad with a toner and it didn't have any makeup residue on it, not even the usual greyish hue that dead skin cells leave on cotton pad.

The rotation only goes in one direction but it doesn't bother me because it cleansed effectively and efficiently.

The plus point of this is that I can put it down to rinse my face without the brush head touching the surface of my sink. All I had to do was to detach the head from the device and place it facing up.

I'm back from my travels and it's all about product reviews now, but I promise to share more about my travel soon!

So before I was away, I was sent 2 body-care products to review from The Sample Store and they are from a German Brand, Esemtan. Now, when something skincare related from Germany enters through my door~ I sit up and have a closer look because I know that the Germans are really good at skincare stuff. They were the original creator of BB cream and I'm not talking about the yucky BB creams, I'm talking of the pure medical miracle stuff.

So anyway, I did my little research on the brand and it's interesting to note that even the hospitals here are using them. So, let's not delay any further and hope right into my review!

Esemtan Wash Lotion

Esemtan Wash Lotion is a gentle lathering, mildly soothing-scent opalescent green coloured wash. It is suitable for every use and everyone - for the whole body, face and hair, for all skin types, for the skin of babies and old people. Consisting of Allantoin, Esemtan Wash Lotion is pH neutral for the skin and soap free, and suitable for sensitive and stressed skin. 

This wash has also passed strict skin sensitivity tests and was approved by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) that is dedicated to the safe use of fragrant chemicals, and essential oils in perfume and skincare. 

How To Use:

Shower: Can be used like soap or commercial shower lotions while taking shower 

Hand washing: Approx. 2-3ml Esemtan wash lotion to one palm, froth it by adding some water. Wash thoroughly, rinse & dry. 

Suitable for: All skin types, especially dehydrated, dry, & sensitive skin 

VERDICT

Texture: Foams up easily without stripping too much, leaves skin feeling cleansed but not tight or squeaky.

Scent: Smells like a men's perfume... I can't put a finger on it but it's quite pleasant.

Benefits:

• For all skin types ,including baby & elderly skin.
• Can be used on Hair, Face and Body 
• Soap-free
• pH neutral for skin
• With mild fragrance and colouring with good skin tolerability
• Contains Allantoin that reduces skin irritation and support skin’s natural moisture.

Ingredients:
Pure Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Chloride, Lauryl Glucoside, Glycol Distearate, Stearamide MEA, Cocamide DEA, Allantoin, Parfum, Phenoxyethanol, Benzoic Acid, Dehydroacetic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, Polyaminopropyl Biguanide, CI 42090, CI 47005, Benzyl Salicylate and Hexyl Cinnamal.

Cost: $19.75/500ml, $35.30/1L

pH 6

I usually judge a product poorly when I see SLS in the ingredient list, but I dig a little deeper and overall, all the other ingredients aren't that bad. As for the claim that this wash is pH neutral for skin... I did a quick pH test and the result is pH6, so what do you know~ This wash is indeed pH neutral for the skin. In fact, it's the ideal pH level for the skin because it needs to be slightly acidic to protect against bacteria and germs. However, I would still caution people with extra sensitive skin to do a patch test before using this wash.

Esemtan Skin Balm

Esemtan Skin Balm provides the skin with oil and moisture, made suitable for daily hand and body care for all skin types.This balm penetrates deeply into the skin with oil-in water emulsion, and protects and prevents the skin from drying. Hmm, this is a tricky one because of the ingredients used. I see parabens and that raises my eyebrow, but on the other hand, it does seem to keep my skin moisturized. I'm not trained in all of this, my knowledge is based off google and there are contrasting reports on the various parabens and even Paraffinum Liquidum. So, use this Skin Balm at your own will and choice but I would suggest keeping and healing your skin the good old fashion way, jojoba oil.
