Uniqlo UV Cut & BRATOP Collection

This International Women's Day, I joined Uniqlo with @pupuren for their styling workshop hosted by Lena Kamarudin. The workshop featured 2 collections, the UV Cut range and the BRATOP.

BRATOP Collection
Hate having those bra straps peaking out from your tops, specially if you are wearing camisole/ tank top/ singlet? Want to save luggage space while travelling? In a pinch when it's laundry day and your bras are still drying? These are just some situation having a BRATOP can fix! Uniqlo BRATOP offers a range of designs for ladies with different roles, bust size and comfort level.

UV Cut Collection
Another innovative range that Uniqlo has is their UV Cut, that protects the skin by absorbing or reflecting ultraviolet rays! Talk about a multi-purpose product for busy ladies on the go, it really is one second to sun protection. I like their UV Cut Dolman Sleeve Long Cardigan, featured here by the left because it has the perfect length and sleeves' length to throw on when you want to protect your skin from harmful rays. The thing to note is that the effectiveness of the protection depends on the fabric and the amount of washes it goes through. I was told that it has been tested to retain its function even after 10 washes.

REVIEW
I chose the Pointelle Lace Bra Camisole (S$29.90) in Black with size L from the BRATOP range for this review.

Special Features
Lace details for a softer look.
Natural cotton material with spandex and nylon for that added stretch.
Smooth fabric lining inside the cups.

Size & Cut
Has a gentle V neck cut. Size ranges from XS to XXL.

Overall
I like that the cut is very modest, just a hint of cleavage, making it a very feminine top that is great for a date or even office wear. It is also great that I don't have to wear a strapless bra for such tops because it's a BRATOP. It's great for value, and a brilliant 2-in-1 solution for a bride-to-be living in 2 places with incomplete wardrobes. I had some sizing issue because I'm in between sizes but I ended up with L and I've got to say that overall the size & cut feels really comfortable, I just had to tuck the top into my undies (my lil tip) to keep it snug!

The camisole featured here was a gift by Uniqlo with no expectation of a review or publicity.

Zalora.sg: Inspiration for Lunar New Year

It's that time again for new clothes and there is a perfectly good reason for doing so too!
Lunar New Year is approaching and the chinese believe in the importance of having new things to usher the new year!

So with that being said, I have compiled 3 Inspiration for your Chinese New Year OOTD:

Traditional

From In The Mood For Love
Nothing screams Chinese New Year like a good cheongsam and after watching a series of movies that features actresses in them, it's not hard to feel invested in getting one myself.

From left to right:
Stand Collar Lace Bodycon Dress - Zalora
Floral Foil Print Sheath Dress - Zalora
Lace Pieced Sheath Dress - Zalora

Start the Chinese New Year with the hues of red or choose something a little unconventional by playing around with colours. Put on this figure-flattering dress and pair it with a clutch and pumps to usher in the first day of the Lunar New Year while keeping it traditionally chic.

Classy

The second inspiration is from About Time, I really love her wedding dress. haha! It's red and really classy with the right amount of skin showing.

From Left to Right:
Slit Sleeve Dress - Zalora
Lace Pieced Sheath Dress - Zalora
Jacquard Bustier Dress - Zalora

Three different types of style that shows off the right amount of skin in different ways; the first shows off the arms, the second shows off the legs and skin in peeks, and the third shows off the collar bone and décolleté.

Modern

Emma rocking the cropped top with a long skirt that shows off her slender leg

The final inspiration isn't from a movie but it's from what's been trending for awhile now, and cropped top, culottes and romper are all the rage so why not consider them for CNY'16!

From Left to Right:
One Shoulder Frill Crop Top - Something Borrowed
Textured Midi Skirt - Something Borrowed

Mix Floral Off Shoulder Romper - Zalora

Floral Crop Top - Zalora
Pleated Cullotes - Zalora

My tip for acing the cropped top look is to pair it with something high waisted so that it's more forgiving to the little bump that will appear as you stuff your face with CNY goodies! And you can also opt for a romper with layering to help you hide the food belly for the season, it shall be our little secret!

Interview With: Dawn from Chere & Dillon

A few moons ago, I attended Singapore Fashion Runway 2015 and chanced upon a very interesting Eco-fashion label for men and women that specializes in designer wear that uses organic and eco-friendly fabric of quality and comfort. I knew that I had to collaborate with this label, and it is none other that, Chere & Dillon.

So I arranged a short interview with label owner, Dawn to learn more about her lifestyle and the label.

Hi Dawn, thank you very much for accepting this interview for my blog! Please tell me a little about yourself and Chere & Dillon.

It's my pleasure to share. I am a mother of 3 lovely children, and I was working 15 years in the public sector, before I realised that there is always something amiss in my life; and that was that my entrepreneur heart has not found its place. Then in 2014, I met some amazing people who inspired me much to make my dream into reality. I decided to take a plunge and launch my fashion label in late 2014. Chere & Dillon was named, taking its roots from Chere which means beloved, and Dillon, which means being true. Just like the name, our brand aspires to create a bond with perfect depiction of timeless love between two individuals in a most genuine relationship in its organic form.

That's a really pretty name for the label! How does Chere & Dillon represent itself and differ from other brands?

Chere & Dillon differentiate with use of natural fabrics such as organic cotton which is free from harmful chemicals and Tencel made of 100% natural fibres from wood pulps, is bio-degradable and incredibly environmental friendly.

Chere & Dillon is a brand that represent  love in the simplest & purest form, yet original.

I love how wholesome and pure Chere & Dillon is being positioned. Is this a personal reflection of yourself as the woman behind the label? If so, may I know what is your motto in life and how does that translate to your style?

In a way, I believe that we should be authentic as individuals, being as real as possible and that is reflected in the quality of my product. I expect them to be at its most original form as much possible.

Moreover, as a dreamer at heart, I love dreamy pastel colours and flying drapes in the styles. I like my clothes to be free & easy – simple , easy to wear and of an effortless style.

That's the impression I had when I saw your collection on the runway during Singapore Fashion Runway 2015. May I know what or who is your fashion inspiration then?

Nature is my inspiration. Anything in the nature that I connect it with an emotion, could be an inspiration.
Talking about nature, do you think people should consider eco-fashion and even make the switch to be more sustainable with their choice in outfits?

I don't expect that people would seek out eco-fashion in the first place or switch to eco-fashion completely. But I believe if the design stands out and if it's made with quality material, people would have a better inclination to buy if they know they are made of eco-friendly material.

Oh yes, speaking about material... I am very amazed by how soft the fabric feels! I've never expect that 100% natural fibres derived from wood pulps could feel this soft! Dawn, thank you very much for spending your time with me for this interview. Before I end, I have one final question. What is the one most important message for my readers to know about Chere & Dillon?

Anyone can play a part no matter how small it may be, it all starts with you. A step at a time, we can choose to shop wisely with right choice of fashion. All it takes is a choice, that can make a difference, to become a little more caring and playing a part to build a better planet. Chere & Dillion is a fashion label that aspire to make a difference to the world with sustainability in mind.

Zalora.sg: Pairing your OOTDs with a Watch

Just recently, I was having a discussion with a friend of mine about watches and how people don't wear one as much these days because our phones can tell time.

Then she reminded me that regardless of how phones tell the time, it's much easier and faster to read time off the wrist... that and how watches are more than the teller of time, they are an individual's statement piece.

So without further ado, here's 4 themes for everyone to consider with Michael Kors' watch collection:

MONOCHROME

Complete your black, grey and white outfit with a hint of classic gold on your wrist for a timeless twist. And don't be afraid of wearing a masculine/feminine style, whatever floats your boat really.
It's a statement piece, make it a statement.

1. Darci MK3322 Watch
2.Runway MK5191 Watch
3. Runway MK5145 Watch

SLICK LIKE SLIVER

Are you of a cool skin tone? Yes? Then, silver is for you!
If you belong to the warm side, get a silver watch with a darker faceplate to help balance things up!

1. Kinley Pave MK5996 Watch
2. Skylar MK5988 Watch
3. Skylar MK5866 Watch

CLASSICALLY GOLD

Warm skin tone, peeps! Gold is for you, wear it alone for some class or match it a range of accessories. You can't go wrong with something as classic as gold.

1. Slim Runway MK3275 Watch
2. Petite Dar MK3295 Watch
3. Slim Runwa MK4285 Watch

TOUGH LIKE LEATHER

Another classic that will suit everyone's skin tone.
Play around with the colour of the leather band to switch things up.
Go dark for a stronger, more masculine style or lighter for a delicate, more feminine feel.

1. Slim Runway MK2284 Watch
2. Gage MK8362 Watch
3. Slim Runway MK2256 Watch

Ultimately, while a watch can be a statement piece, remember that you're the wearer of it.
Own it and own the look.

Zalora.sg: Inspiration for Bridesmaids Dresses

Are you a bride on the search for dresses for your bridesmaids?
Or the bridesmaid in charged of searching for dresses for your fellow "girl group"?

Well, this post has been written to offer you a little help!

Image from EventsStyle

Now, I know that the key factors are that the bridesmaids' dresses:
1) Cannot steal away the attention of the Bride's gown
2) Has to match the theme
3) The wearer has to be able to do a multitude of task in this outfit.

So with that in mind, here are my inspirations based on 3 different wedding themes:

1. Classic Lace
This is as the name suggest, the Classic. The bride will be in a white flowy lacy gown and the wedding will be held in a ballroom.

Traditionally, bridesmaids will more or less be wearing a gown too but let's face it... A gown makes it hard to move around to assist and support the bride, so I suggest to go with the modern times and choose a dress instead! With its feminine design and neutral tones, this outfit will work well for bridesmaid with different skin tone! Pair it off with a chic pair of heels in the matching colour and your ladies are ready!

Eleanor Dress - MDS Collections
Ankle Strap Heeled Sandals - Zalora Basics
Platform Pumps With Ankle Straps - Zalora

The best part of this outfit?
It can be worn for other occasions too after the wedding!

2. Ready For The Beach
It is pretty common these days for weddings to be held by the beach, so imagine sea breeze, sand and sunset! And what better way to represent the whole mood with a tropical print and wrap skirt designed dress!

And since you  will be long the beach, I would advice a comfortable footwear like a pair sandals in a matching shade or wedges rather than heels because you dont want to be sinking into the sand and risk hurting your ankle.

Destinee Dress In Floral - MDS Collections
High Wedges - Karen & Chloe
Solar + Salina T Bar Sandals - Melissa

This dress will make it a good reason for you to tone up your shoulders and back.
Let me know if you want me to share with you my not-so-secret workout routine to tone up these areas!

3. Glam & Party
Gatsby themed wedding with feathers, glitz and glamour?
Black and gold will be perfect!

So shake up the wedding with this classic square neckline dress with a peekaboo mesh shoulder and fluted hem, and be ready to dance away with the Bride & Groom!

Match it with a pair of heels with a easy zip-up fasting like these that I have selected so you can be on the go quickly when your bride needs you!

Zipper Sandal Heels - Sidewalk
Laser Cut Out Motive Heels - Sidewalk

Wanderlust Getaway: Wellington Street Art Scene

Street art is a common sight in Wellington if you open your eyes to spot them, some are quite clever with a hidden message, others look really cute or funky.

Hidden in this quiet lane, just off a path to the side of a public carpark, lies walls and walls of Graffiti and it was here that I did my very first #OOTD series in Wellington, New Zealand.

Jersey Halter Knit Top - Wardrobemess
HEATTECH Crew Neck Long Sleeve T-Shirt - Uniqlo
Ceci Pleated Front Trousers - Zalora
HEATTECH Leggings - Uniqlo
Fall Over Border Coat - Zalora
Red Possum Wool Scarf - Hand-knitted by BF's Mum
Black Sling Bag - Bought by my mum from Hong Kong
Wendy Oxford shoes - Schulicious

Now, what most of you may not be able to tell was that I was pretty high up for these few shots of me with the yellow street art behind me and all that I have to stand on what this metal structure. Why did I climb so high up? I guess I was influenced by the rebellious vibes of the place and I wanted to show off my oxford shoes from Schulicious! It's been awhile since I last owned an oxford, and this one is just classic~

On a whole, on my first day back in Wellington, it's still as windy and cold as I remembered it to be but it was made warmer with my dearest who brought me around and showed me the quirky side of this "supposedly" quiet and dull town.

Like the famous Bucket Fountain that was created in such a way that the buckets regularly tip the water out onto the pavement, rather than into the buckets below and the pipes that fill the top buckets were deliberately made short so that on windy days a lot of water gets blown away before reaching the buckets.

Just to clarify, I did not get wet but I was very skeptical when Jonny asked me to stand nearer...

Oh! And I want to rave about the coat of this OOTD, because I got it at a good bargain with the use of a discount code for Zalora purchase! It was really hesitant to get a coat from Zalora because most of the apparels are catered to Singapore's climate and I was quite doubtful of this coat's ability to keep me warm. But the description stated that it would and it came with a hoodie, so I took the gamble.

In short,
best shopping gamble ever!

How to ace the bohemian luxe style with Zalora.sg

The style of bohemian has always been associated with words like "Free-spirited", "Flowy & Layered" or even "Earthy". Just imagine flower crown, long beach dresses and braided wavy hair.

Bohemian Luxe is something more polished and classy without loosing the free spirited vibes. So how does one go around acing this style?

Well, I did my work and here's my selection for a casual day out:

Luxe Lace Shift Dress - Zalora
Lace Longline Kimono - River Island
Coin Layered Necklace - Tagg
Stack Bracelet Bands - Something Borrowed
Metal Belt - Parfois
Round Folding Flash Lenses Sunglasses - Ray-Ban
Chavez Gusset Boots - RUBI

Start With Something Classy And Elegant

Imagine this piece as the base or structure of the whole look, this will be the difference between the Bohemian Luxe or Bohemian Chic look.

So with that being said, I've selected a Lace shift dress as my base because lace is back in trend and lace always make everything look elegant.

Accessorize With Class

When you think of Bohemian, you will most likely think of layered bracelets and necklaces.
However, the aim here is to do that while looking classy so rather than pilling up accessories like no tomorrow~ Choose a layered necklace and stacked bracelets that will match your outfit, either by colour scheme or texture.

Something Flowy

Of course, you can't complete the bohemian look without something flowy!
So I paired the dress with a long lacy kimono, and a plain belt to cinch in the waist.
I chose my selection to keep it constant with the whole lace theme, but you can go with which ever outerwear you like as along as it completes or accentuates the look.

End Off With A Pair Of Boots

To finish off the whole look, I choose a tanned pair of ankle boots to lighten up the whole outfit because my base piece is of a dark colour scheme.

And I throw in a sunnies into the mix because it's something I bring around to shade my eyes from the sun and something that I tend to use to hold my hair back (kind of like a hairband).

Do you like this look?
Let me know what you think!

Zalora.sg: Are You Fashion-Ready For National Day?

It's the month of July and August is not too far away, and I'm not too sure about you but I'm getting pretty excited for National Day!

Every year, on August 9th, it's the one day where you can predict what Everyone else is going to wear: something red and white. And while, I love how patriotism is being expressed by everyone wearing our national colours... it can be quite boring and expected.

There are other colours and iconic representation of our National Spirit that we can base our OOTD for National Day. For starters, there is white but that will be too political...

So I look to nature and to Zalora.sg because they will be having a National Day sales in Singapore!
And here's what I came up with:

Did you know that the Vanda Miss Joaquim orchid was chosen for its vibrant colours, hardiness and resilience – qualities which reflect the Singapore spirit. Yup, on 15 April 1981, Vanda Miss Joaquim var. Agnes was designated as Singapore’s national flower to foster national pride and identity.

So with that in mind, I created to 2 outfits that you can refer to for inspiration. I kept in mind that people who are going to dress up are most likely going to be out for NDP or out for a party.
So for those heading for NDP, I decided to pair something more for comfort and for the weather:

V Neck Cami - New Look
Side Pep Skirt - Jean Lauie
Moss Sandals - RUBI
Schoolgirl Satchel - Zalora

It's bound to get hot and humid, so your best bet would be to go with something light and sleeveless, so I've paired a cami with a beautiful iridescent purple skirt with sandals and a satchel to hold your valuables in!
While for those heading for a party, here's how you add glam to your style:

Claudia Cut Out Dress - Indikah
Snake Print Strappy Heels - Sidewalk
Croc Effect Sling Clutch - UNISA

Ok, I'm just going to state it now that I love this dress! It's playful and glam all at the same time, and it reflects all the colours of the orchid! Simply match this dress with a pair of heels and a clutch, I took things up at notch with the play of texture; the heels are of snake print while the clutch has a croc leather effect to bring out that wild side for a party~

And there you have it, my 2 cents on what other colour scheme we can wear on National Day besides the usual red & white!

What will you be wearing for 9th August?

Flipit.com: Get Ready For Work With These OOTD & Save With Discount Codes

Hey hey!
I've been learning how to use Google Analytics to understand more about you (my readers), and it seems that most of you are ladies of the working demographic~

So I decided to take a break from talking about beauty to talk about fashion and since I've traded my outdoor job to an indoor office job, I thought that it will be interesting to share with you some of my OOTD concepts for the corporate world.

To make things easy for you, if you like any of these pieces, I've selected all of them from Zalora.sg and to add in a perk for you~ Head to Zalora discount codes for a list of promotions that are ongoing!

And to start things off, let's start with the classic~ Monochrome.

Monochrome OOTD

Net Panel Pencil Skirt - Something Borrowed
Flowy Shirt - Mango
Basic High Heel Sandals With Ankle Strap - Zalora Basics
Pointed Heels With Ankle Strap - Something Borrowed
Pointed Ballerinas With Ankle Straps - Zalora
Double Zippered Classic Tote - Zalora

The concept of wearing Monochrome is basically to stick to the classic colours of black, white and even grey. To keep things look professional, I decided to pair an unconventional skirt (for office) with a simple flowy button-up white blouse, and a black handbag.

For shoes, I decided to offer a range of height for your own selection. As usual, the heels would be the normal selection for the corporate world but let's face it... it's tiring for the calves and painful for the feet, so choose something that you can be comfortable in.

Floral OOTD

Butchart Gardens Flare Skirt - Ziztar
Neppy Sleeveless Top - River Island
Saffiano Small Trapeze Tote - Zalora
Mix Material High Heel Sandals - Zalora
Basic Thick Heel Pumps - Sidewalk
Fern Point Flats - RUBI

I love everything floral, hence the reason why I'm happy with my job at the moment.
Here's my selection of items to ace the floral game, the key here is to form the look around one statement piece. In this case, it's the skirt, and work with the other pieces to put an outfit together!

One-Colour-Scheme OOTD

Contrast Collar Bodycon Dress - Girlondon
Pattern Blazer - Bread N Butter
Helena Mini Tote Bag - Nine West
Weaved Peep Toe Platform Heels - Sidewalk
DOREY D'orsay Pumps - Nine West
Dancer Ballerinas - RUBI

Lastly, this OOTD is all about combing items of the similar colour/shade to create the look. To avoid looking one dimensional, I added in items with different texture and pattern, and varied the shades of the selected colour.

And there you have it~
These are the concepts that I roughly base my outfits for work each day with the use of the Deja Fashion App.

This post has been brought to you by Flipit.com, a site that collects promo codes, coupons and discounts from a huge selection of online shops all over the world to help you save on all of your online purchases, no matter where in the world you live or shop!

Deja Fashion: Start Your Styling Journey Here

Two months ago, I was invited to an Exclusive Fashion Party to learn more about Asia’s first Intelligent Personal Styling app.

A photo posted by Jody Liu (@jodulu) on

When I was made aware of this app, I thought that it was great!
Because now, besides scrolling through #ootd and lookbook online, this app gives me an alternative of  working out my style with similar items that I can find among what I already have.

What Does Deja Fashion Offer?

Visual Mannequin
The newest and most fun way to shop with a completely unique experience.

I really like this function because it allows me to mix-and-match outfits with shoes, bags and even accessories. The best part is that you can coordinate the looks with hair and makeup, and there is also the option to modify the Mannequin's face to yours to make the experience more realistic!

Personal Stylist

Experience the first real time style assessment through mixing and matching multiple clothes.

Ultimately, there is no denying that this app will help us in finding out our own style and if we need help, there are a range of styling articles on the app and a decent amount of styles created by fellow Deja Fashion users to see what works and what don't.

The first time I used this app, I was hooked on playing around with the collection of apparels, shoes and accessories.

There is just something really addictive about this app, it's like playing dress up with a barbie doll with a huge collection of clothing!

I really wished that I had this app earlier when I was deciding on what to wear for Fashion Step Out, it would have saved me from all the headache I was having! Haha, in the end, I went ahead with stripes (if you have seen my post on it) but I've also recreated a look similar to what I've worn for one of the styling challenges that Deja Fashion App host!

More info about the challenges below.

Universal Purchase
Shop the world’s fashion at the palm of your hands on one platform, Deja.

The best part of this app is that it links the items used, to the site where you can purchase it from, so you can purchase your creations!

So since I've switched from an outdoor job to an indoor role, I've been sourcing for clothing to wear for work. I need something professional with a dash of my own taste and style. So here's what I came up with:

Ok~ I don't wear spectacles any longer but it's good to reminisce of my good old days.
That aside, I love how the app list out the total cost of the outfit (not shown in photo) and the price of the individual items to help individuals like me to decide on what items I can focus on to get and other items that I can work towards to~ Haha!

Overall, I've been having fun on it~ It's a great app that keeps me entertained on my way thru and fro from work! And talking about the styling challenges~ Do feel free to join their styling campaigns and earn credits as you create looks for Deja Style Challenges. These credits can later be redeemed for prizes like vouchers and movie tickets once you have accumulated the amount needed!

So start your styling experience here with Deja Fashion App, and as always~ feel free to follow me for more styling inspiration!
