ITS DEMO X PIDITE: Disney Compact Face Powder with Sun Protection SPF22 PA+++

Riding on the Disney Themed Beauty products,
I've got something more to share! I stumbled onto this beauty shop called ITS DEMO when I was in Japan and fell in love with their Compact Face Powder Disney collection, and decided to get the Sleeping Beauty Design!

Contains 3-in-1 powder for a high coverage during the day:

Comes in a standard shade

Ray Crystal Powder
Minimise the appearance of pores and wrinkles

Marshmallow Cushion Powder
Keeps skin feeling soft and smooth

Super Oil-Absorbing Powder
Absorb excess oil and prevent makeup from creasing for a beautiful finish that lasts all day

Shade
Slight orangish beige

OVERALL

I've been using this powder in place of my normal foundation and I love the smell of it (light floral scent)! I like how lightweight it feels on my skin without clogging my pores.

The powder doesn't add much of a colour to your skin once you blend it out properly.

And I also like that it has sun protection (SPF 22 PA+++) so it's a nice face powder to use on days when I'm lazy.

2015 New Year Resolutions

It's the time of the year where the past and the future meets in the present to conclude the goals for the time to come~ Yup, as my title states so, it's time to set some new New Year Resolution.

2014, has been a toughie...
It started with my heart broken,
It gave promise to a year of opportunities that never came,
It was a year full of pointless chasing,
It reintroduced me to hope and love,
It tested my resilience and independence,
And it proved to me that life can be horrible but that doesn't mean I should end it.

Despite all that, looking back at my 2014 Resolution List... I am quite shocked to say that I did almost everything on it and for those that I didn't check off, at least I made an attempt and effort to do it (but I could have fight more).

With that being said, here's to this year's list:

1) Maintain My Health

To be honest, once my heart got a little better... I have been layering on the fluffiness and normally, I would be fine with it because I have been stick thin all my childhood life but the cellulite I am getting with the flabby layer is getting on my nerve. So, here's to getting toned the healthy way for 2015.

I shall commit to using the stairs more often.
I shall commit to consuming more vegetables & fruits, and basically eating healthy.
I shall take the fluffy one (my dog) for a nice long walk once every week.

2) Learn How To Drive

Yup, I think 25 is a good age to learn and now I've got  a valid reason to do so... My dad's night vision is getting bad and my brother is turning 18. So, we can work on our driving skills together!

3) Water My Seeds Dilligently

A bunch of my friends and I have recently started up GiveBox, a social enterprise that benefits disadvantaged elderly and women by empowering them with the skill sets of various handicraft skills to craft our products by hand. It has been a very interesting journey so far with lots of areas to work on if we all want it to succeed.

Besides business matters, I am also implying about the various plants I am trying to grow... to be honest, I make a very bad gardener :( It's such an irony that I've a green heart but no green thumbs. My dad reckons that it is the way I tend to the plants, and I listen to his advice because he is so good at planting seeds. All he has to do is to spit the seeds into his pots and they sprout and grow like nobody's business. Life works in mysterious ways.

And as for blogging, I have a few exciting project coming up~ Some of my own and a few with some of my blogger friends. This blogging realm has been pretty supportive of each other despite the bigger influencers cutting throats. I have figured long ago that I dont want to be famous for gossips, I just want to focus on experiencing and enjoying beauty of things, be it fashion, makeup, skincare, arts or food!

So~ Here's to 2015, may this year be a good one.

Essential Beauty Tools: July Edition! [Brought to you by OMY.SG X Singapore Blog Awards]

Hey hey!

As a finalist of Best Beauty Blog in Singapore Blog Awards, we were requested to share with our readers the beauty tools which we use that are important to us. It was easy for me to think of the beauty tools that I use, but the challenge was how these tools were important to me.

I have just chanced upon these tools and just use them without realising that they form the essential part of my beauty process! We learn something new everyday!

Check out my video on the types of beauty tools I used in different aspects of my beauty regimen
and scroll down to read how these tools are important to me!

Skincare

Marketing and advertising has always place an emphasis that beauty starts with flawless skin, to the extent that photos and videos are retouched; models are covered up with makeup; and now, any skin imperfection is frown upon.

Ladies are now guilt-ridden for "flaws" that they cant control, like acne, pimples, wrinkles and even pigmentation.

As a new beauty blogger in this field, I would like to break that and tell you that I am far from perfection.

I battled with acne to tell you that the more you try to get rid of it, the more harm you are doing to your skin.
Now, after medications, harsh creams and various chemical treatments, my skin is very sensitive.

I found out the hard way that the solution to happy beautiful skin is to do less with harsh ingredients, sufficient with my cleansing routine and more with the way I love myself despite the social stigma of beauty.

I am currently using natural and basic skincare products for my face (Click here to read more about my current skincare) and to maintain healthy glowing skin, I use these tools below to gently cleanse away dead skin cells, grime and makeup and to boost circulation!

This fluffy brush here is a cleansing brush!

Made with incredibly fine and soft bristles, The Cloud reaches deep into your pores to prevent the accumulation of dirt, grime and makeup. This reduces causes of blemishes, while smoothing and refining your skin’s texture for incredible results.
I will do a review on this range soon! Keep an eye out if you are interested to know more!

I have mentioned this in my recent July Skin Care Regimen video, click here to find out more on it!
A 100% natural facial sponge made from vegetable fiber, Kishu Binchotan charcoal (White charcoal) and various minerals that enhance absorptive ability, helps removing excess oil and dead skin cells in the most delicate manner.

With the use of these 2 cleansing tools, I have seen and felt a difference. My skin is smoother and more radiant now, there are still the occasional blemishes but the amount of it has reduced significantly!
I still dont have perfect flawless skin but at least the condition is being kept under control~

Makeup

Gorgeous makeup is as much about the tools you use as the products you apply and the skill of application.

“Brushes make all the difference when it comes to getting a professional-looking makeup application,” says New York City-based celebrity makeup artist Troy Surratt.

Having started out with basic makeup: foundation and eyeliner, I have come a long way from using my fingers to apply makeup. Now, I have a holder full of brushes, a drawer full of foundation, powder, blushers, eyeshadows, eyeliners, mascaras, lip gloss, lip stains and lipsticks!

I still use my fingers when I do my makeup, because let's face it~ body heat warms up products and fingers are easier to control when you are rushing for time. But that being said, on days when I have time or when a more seamless makeup look is required, I use brushes for application!
And as a beauty blogger, readers are not only interested in our 2 cents worth of review about a beauty product but also the way we create our makeup look~ (Am I right?)

I find that brushes help to create a smoother almost airbrush application that fingers cant really give.
And at the moment, I am trying out these 5 brushes from 13RUSHES!

13RUSHES aspires to bring cruelty-free alternatives to beauty lovers all over the world. We believe looking great doesn’t have to harm the animals. Contrary to popular belief, getting fur off the animals isn't as pain-free as a haircut. Every year, millions of animals are trapped and strangled in the wild, electrocuted and skinned in fur farms. Beauty should never come at the expense of the animals, as such all our products are 100% free of animal parts. Hence we promise to NEVER experiment on animals. Fur is really not glamourous.
I had the great pleasure of collaborating with 13RUSHES after I wrote in to them, I was really interested to know what everyone was raving about and so far, I am glad with the choices I made!
I will be doing a review on these brushes soon, so please do keep an eye out too!

Brushes aside, another makeup tool that I find very useful is this eyelash curler by Panasonic.
Eyelashes are Asian ladies' woes, they are either too short, too sparse or too straight that cannot rival the Western Ladies...

I have long lashes that are sparse and so poker straight, it would fool everyone at a poker table.

So I have been on the search for mascaras that would add volume and hold curls really well, and in my search, I have come upon many disappointing claims and end up having excess.

SO when I chanced upon this curler, I thought that I would put it to the ultimate test with the less worthy mascaras and boy was I amazed~

I have never used a heated eyelash curler like this before and boy~ am I glad to have this!
This curler really makes the most out of mascaras that droops lashes (you know what I'm talking about)!

It heats up fast, curls well and stretch the use of disappointing mascaras!

Hair

Because I have a longish face shape, I keep my hair long to balance my face out and if you have long hair too, you know the troubles behind keeping our mane healthy.

Besides using SLS-free shampoo and applying all sort of hair treatment oil, I also try to keep it away from excessive heat. If I do, I use a heat protection products.

So what do I use when I want naturally soft curls for events and date nights?

I use these foam rollers!

I have really long hair that has been dyed more times than I can count now and as usual, dyed hair tends to be dry and brittle. So to avoid excessive heat, I use these rollers to help me achieve my usual hairdo look while I sleep!

And there you have it~
The importance of Beauty Tools to me as a Beauty Blogger!

Mid Year Reflection

At the start of 2014, I wrote down a list of things I aimed to accomplish by the end of the year. Now, that we have reached the mid-point of 2014~ I guess it is good for me to reflect on the months that has passed?

Here is the list:

1) Learn a new language
I am trying to learn German..
and am looking into learning Japanese!

2) Be more organised
It's a work in progress!
I have gotten myself a diary to plan my time and days out during the start of 2014,
that's working pretty well at the moment~

3) Learn a new skill
I learnt how to surf!

4) Pick up a new hobby
I thought long and hard about this...
Over the past few months, I have tried out a handful of new hobby like archery~
Then it hit me that, blogging is actually a hobby that I enjoy! Sure, I  started blogging at the age of 17 at first to share my overseas experience and life with my friends and family (That blog has been deleted) and I have been blogging on this new blog for awhile but I wasnt this active.

I dont blog for money or fame~ I blog because, I like doing it~
And blogging has brought me so much joy, interesting experience and even new friends in my life that, makes me feel really blessed!

So~ Yes. Blogging is my "new" hobby and I am really thankful for all the support and opportunities that came along to help this hobby of mine grow~

5) Travel to a new place/ country
Bali. Enuff said.
Cebu next.
Followed by... Norway for Northern Lights & Switzerland?

6)Do voluntary work overseas
I have been doing voluntary work inland...
I still havent figure out where to have this accomplished.

7) Dance on the street randomly with no music
notebook animated GIF

This has been in my mind for awhile... to be brave and random enough to dance on the street.

To be honest, I didn't accomplish this alone. I had help from a spontaneous person who didnt even know about this resolution of mine!

You know who you are. Thanks for the randomness!

8) Buy myself a new phone & a new line

Yes! I finally did it!

9) Implement my campaign

This will take place in a few days time and I am looking forward to it! If you are free and around the corner, do drop by and say hi!

10) Reach out to 10, 000 youths and share my environmental passion with them
Hopefully~

So there you have it~
5 resolutions completed within 6 months!
Another 5 to go!

Adventures with Cuzzie: Floral Serenity

A few weeks back, on a random afternoon~
we got ourselves checked in at MBS and had an impromptu staycation!

Look at the amazing view of Gardens By The Bay from our room!

I love how random we can be...
This second lens adventure came about because my cousin wanted to try out a photo shoot on a big bed with white sheets and pillows, and I wanted to try out the floral headpiece shoot :)

When the opportunity came, we took it and here are the shots!

And for fun, I added a splash of colour to my face and we went out to the balcony~
We wanted to take with the view at the back... but that failed. Haha!

I feel a little Jane here with the vines:
In case of emergency/ boredom, use vines to swing from one place to another.

This time round, for this photo shoot... my outfit borders the creative side of things..

Lace bustier: vintage, from my mum
White "skirt": Sarong from Amaya Lingerie
Floral Headpiece: DIY with materials from Daiso
Blue Jersey Dress: Factorie (Australia)

I basically fold and tucked in the sarong under the bustier for the first look and for the second, I wore the bustier on top of the jersey dress and tucked the sleeves of the dress under it.
That's the beauty of style and fashion,
it's all about mixing and matching & thinking outside of the box of the nature of a piece.

As for the floral headpiece, we headed to Daiso to get ourselves a few fake flowers. Then we threaded it with wire and elastic and secured it with those green tapes you used for flower arrangement.

And tadaa~ Floral Headpiece.

~~~
No human face is exactly the same in its lines on each side, no leaf perfect in its lobes, no branch in its symmetry. All admit irregularity as they imply change; and to banish imperfection is to destroy expression, to check exertion, to paralyze vitality. All things are literally better, lovelier, and more beloved for the imperfections which have been divinely appointed, that the law of human life may be Effort, and the law of human judgment, Mercy.
― John Ruskin
Bye Now.
