HKCPlaza: Day/Neutral Makeup with ESYORO X JODULU Makeup Palette Collection

Hey hey, ladies~ I've got something exciting going on.
Tadaa~ Here's my very first makeup collaboration with HKCPlaza.com, I have handpicked these shades to create my very own Day-to-Night Makeup Palette from ESYORO!

I've carefully selected these shades for asians with brown eyes, hence the purple and blue eyeshadows and a set of cool & warm blush!

This palette comes with (from the left):
2x Lip Colours
2x Blushs
6x Eyeshadows

So to kick things off, I will be doing a series of makeup tutorials using the shades from this palette and I will be starting from the basic, neutral/day makeup look!

STEPS

1. Start with a clean, cleansed and moisturised face.
2. Primp your eyelids and conceal around your eye area.
3. Picking up (A) with a brush, pat this shade onto your eyelids and build up the intensity of the pigments layer by layer. Then, a trick I use to help me know where to blend up to, along my crease line is to keep my eyes open and run the brush along it.
4. With (A), run this shade along the outer 1/3 of the lower lash line to create a balanced look.

5. Picking up (B) with a finger, pat this shade into the inner corners of the eyes. Blend this shade into (A) for a soft gradient transition, and bring this shade down to the inner lower lash line too.
6. It's time for eyeliner! I love love love using liquid eyeliner, so here's how I line my eyes with it. I start from the center, drawing a very thin line to the end of my eye (following my lash line). Then I go back to the center and tightline, and to make the line appear more seamless, I tightline 1/3 from the start of my eyes and build the line thicker towards the end. To create my flick, I look straight ahead into the mirror and draw the flick along the area where my eyelids fold naturally.

7. To create a soft illusion of depth, I used (C) on my outer crease. Do note to pick up very little product for this step, and blend it softly into the crease from the outer to the inner corners.
8. Curl your lashes and brush on a mascara of your liking to the top and bottom lashes.
9. And for brows, I used (C) to draw and define my brows.

10. For cheeks, I used (D) which is a coral pinkish shade, on the apple of my cheeks.
11. And lastly, for lips, I used (E) with a lip brush for precision. The product is build-able, so just layer on as much as you like to build up the intensity of the product. It is a nude pink shade and it's perfect for this Day/Neutral look!

And that's the end of this tutorial!

Look Of The Day: Purple Party

In the recent Luxola's One Night Stand event, we were gifted with heaps of awesome goodies like it was X'mas already! In the goodie bag, I got some stuff from Wet n Wild and so, I decided to create a look with what I got!

Continue reading to learn how I create a party look featuring Wet n Wild's products:
1) Colour Icon Eyeshadow Trio (Spoiled Brat)- S$8.90
2) Silk Finish Lipstick (Dark Wine)- S$3.90
3) Megalast Nail Colour (On A Trip)- S$6.90
4)Fastdry Nail Colour (Everybody Loves Redmond)- S$6.90
STEPS

1) To help make the eyeshadow last longer in a climate like Singapore, I will be using an eye primer. Here, I applied LJH Cellabel M.C Prep Eye Primer on my lids and on my dark circles to help brighten and lighten the area up. This will also help the eyeshadow to adhere better on my lower lash line.

2) Pat the purple shadow from the lash line upwards towards the crease line. Blend out any harsh line at the crease.

3) Line the lower lash line with the same purple shadow and blend it out to create a soft line.

4) Line the upper lash line with the black shadow, creating a subtle flick at the end. With the remaining shadow on your brush, softly line the outer 1/3 of the lower lash line.

5) Pat the silver shadow on the center of the lids. Gently blend out any harsh line.

6) Line the center of the bottom lash line.

7) Fill in the brows with a soft brown shade. Here, I used Shu Uemura Brow Liner.

8) Curl your lashes and apply a few coats of your favourite mascara.

9) Complete the look with Wet N Wild Silk Finish Lipstick (Dark Wine).

For nails, I used Wet N Wild Megalast Nail colour (On A Trip) with their Fastdry nail colour (Everybody Loves Redmond) to create a mid half moon.

And that's pretty much it! There is a mini tutorial on the back of the product with the indication of which shades go where on your eyes but... personally, I think the instructions for this trio is a little old school and not very suited for asian eyes. Hence, my version of this look with the trio.

If you ever try this out or any of my looks out, #jodulu or tag @Jodulu (IG) to share them with me!

To purchase these Wet N Wild's Product, you may do so here at Luxola!

Wet N Wild will also be retailing at SASA stores starting Mid Nov – early Dec!

Look Of The Day: Aqua Flow

So, a few days back while I was (still) clearing up my makeup mess~
I found my Shu Uemura's Tri-Color Eye Pencil in Aqua Flow.

I remember loving the shades in them but I was never brave and skilled enough to apply them properly.
Over the years, I think I developed my makeup skills and my skin is thicker now (although still not perfect :b) to be able to create a look with this eye pencil.

With that, here are the

STEPS

1. Start with a primer, here I used Essence Eyeshadow Primer.
You may use whatever eyeshadow primer you have.

2. With a clean brush, sweep a light grey eyeshadow over the lid up to the crease line.
For this, I used  Sleek Mineral Based Eye Shadow Palette (Ultra Matts V1 730).

3. Then, line your upper lashline with an aquamarine shade of blue eyeliner.
Here, I am using Shu Uemura's Tri-Color Eye Pencil in Aqua Flow.

4. For the outer corner, extend the liner out and slightly downwards following the natural angle of your top lid.

5. To set the liner and help retain the vibrancy of the blue, use an eyeshadow with the similar shade of blue and pat it onto your upper lashline.

*You may also use eyeshadow with a wet brush to line your eye if you do not have a eyeliner for step 3.

6. To define the depth of your socket line, sweep a dark grey eyeshadow onto your socket line. Remember to blend any harsh edges away for a softer look.

Then, define your eyebrows.
For this, I used a mixture of black and brown shadows from the  Sleek Mineral Based Eye Shadow Palette (Ultra Matts V2 731) with  13RUSHES Short Shader brush to define my brows.

7. Last but not least, curl your lashes and coat them with a mascara to define your lashes!
I used my favourite Shu Uemura's eyelash curler with K-Palette's Magic Fiber Mascara

And that's all for this makeup look!
I love wearing colours because they add a hint of fun and it always helps to wear colours that brings out your eyes!

Look Of The Day: Seeing Red

I have been wanting to try out a red eye makeup look, ever since the Koreans made it popular.
To be honest, it is rather tricky to use red on the lids without ending up with a swollen or irritated eye look.
But, if the look is well balanced~ I think it looks sexy like the inspiration below!

So, here's my take on the red eye makeup look!

STEPS

1. Start with a clean face. I prepped my skin with serum/moisturizer.

2. Start with a primer, here I used Essence Eyeshadow Primer.
You may use whatever eyeshadow primer you have.

3. With a red eyeliner, keep close to your lashes and line your upper lashline.
Extend the end with a little flick.
If you do not have an eyeliner in red, you may use a lipliner instead.
Here, I used Maybelline Auto Lip Liner in Raspberry.

4. Starting with a light pastel pink eyeshadow, pat this shade onto the inner corners of your eyes with a sponge tip applicator. Here, I used Sleek Mineral Based Eye Shadow Palette (Ultra Matts V1 730).

*I find that a good sponge tip applicator helps to compact the shadow better than finger/brush.

5. Use a fluffy eyeshadow brush to soften the harsh edges out.
Here, I used 13RUSHES Angled Mini brush.

6. Continue to pat more of the light pastel pink eyeshadow onto the top lid.
This will set as the base and medium to blend out the redness of the makeup look later.

7. Next, with a bright pink eyeshadow, pat this shade onto the outer corners of your eyes following the natural shape of your eyes with a densed eyeshadow brush. Here, I used  Sleek Mineral Based Eye Shadow Palette (Ultra Matts V1 730) and 13RUSHES Short Shader brush.

8. Use the fluffy eyeshadow brush to blend the harsh edges out, blending it slightly beyond the socket line.

9. Here's the tricky part. Take the fluffy brush to the red liner that you have drawn and blend it.
Focusing on the outer corners, create am outer V.

10. Pat a little of the  light pastel pink eyeshadow onto the center of the lid.

11. Line the bottom 2/3 lashline with the bright pink eyeshadow.

12. With a brownish red eyeshadow, line the upper lashline and 1/3 of the bottom lashline.

And defined my eyebrows using a mixture of black and brown shadows from the  Sleek Mineral Based Eye Shadow Palette (Ultra Matts V2 731) with  13RUSHES Short Shader brush.

Finally, curl your lashes and apply a few coats of mascara!
I used my favourite Shu Uemura's eyelash curler with K-Palette's Magic Fiber Mascara

This is the final look!

I hope you found this useful!

Look Of The Day: Flutter Those Feathers

To spice things up a little, I decided to create a Themed Look.

Taking inspiration from Pinterest,
I decided to create a feathered makeup look!
And here's my result!

Here's how to recreate this look:
STEPS

1. Start with a clean face. I prepped my skin with serum/moisturizer.

2. Starting with the eyes, here I used Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin for that extra twinkle.
You may use whatever eyeshadow primer you have.

 3. Pat a gold eyeshadow all over the lid. Here, I am using the shade from Sephora Makeup Made Simple Palette.

4. Line the upper lashline and bottom 1/3 lashline with the kohl pencil (I used Red Apple Gluten Free Eyeliner). Make sure the lines are thick, like what I have done because you will be placing the lashes above your lashline!

5. I reinforced the line by going over with a liquid liner ( I used K-Palette's 1 Day Magic Liquid Eyeliner) and ran black eyeshadow on my bottom lashline. I also curled my lashes to prep them for the next step!
I skipped mascara because I didnt want to weigh my lids down (what with 2 falsies for this look), but it is up to you if you want to apply them~

6. Apply glue to the band of the lashes, wait until it's slight tacky to place the lashes as close to your lashline as possible. Here, I used Star Lash Extravagant Falsies(EA08) that has tiny black feathers on the tip of the lashes to tie in the entire look that I was aiming for!

7. Apply glue to the band of the lashes, wait until it's slight tacky. This time round, instead of placing the lashes close to the lashline, I placed it on my crease line (which is why your eyeliner has to be thick).
This would would create the illusion of a bigger eye and balance the eye makeup out.

8. Dap some lash glue onto the areas that you want to place the glitter. The placement of the glitter is up to you, I chose to place them within a triangular area at the outer corners of my eyes.

9. I used art glitter here, but you can use cosmetics glitter too if you have them. Dap the glitter with your finger onto the areas with the glue, try not to over cluster the glitters.

And you are done with the eye makeup!

10.  Fill in your brows ( I used Shu Uemura Brow Liner) and complete your face makeup starting with concealer ( I used 24H Cosme Concealer) and foundation ( I used 24H Cosme Powder Foundation).

Then, contour I contoured my cheekbones with a bronzer and highlighted the apples of the cheek with a peach blush!

I keep my cheeks as natural as possible because the main focus is on the eyes!

11. Apply a pinkish nude lip colour over your entire lips. Here, I am using Makeup Forever Rouge Artist Natural (N23) that has purplish/ whitish shimmers in it.

12. With Topshop Lip Bullet in Wine Gum, I lined the inner lip with this shade and blended the colour to create a slightly bitten lip effect. You may use any burgundy or wine lip colour.

And you are done!

Optional Look
You can also just stick to the use of 1 feathered Falsies with the glitter for something less dramatic!

Until next time~
Stay Gorgeous!
